Baby’s first experience in a structured class environment. This class is taught to Parents and Baby together to introduce Baby to an aquatic environment with a gentle and gradual progression. Babies will learn to breath control, kicking, arms and floating through a variety of games and songs promoting simulation of swimming movements.
- Prerequisites: None.
- Instructor Ratio: 6
- Parents/Baby to 1 Instructor.
Classes are 20 minutes long.
Instructors work directly with toddlers in our smallest group setting to gain independence from parents. They will learn to respect the water and follow instructions by repetitive cues. Swimmers will be gently introduced to floating, leg kicks, arm action, and safe pool entries and exists. Swimmers will work towards floating unassisted on their front and back for 5 seconds and swim independently 5 feet with their own propulsion.
- Prerequisite: All students must be able to take instruction and work in a controlled environment.
- 2-year-olds must have gone through Exploration previously and have MGRSS management approval to ensure readiness and swimmer safety.
- Instructor Ratio: 3 Swimmers to 1 Instructor.
Swimmers will be gently introduced to floating, leg kicks, arm action, safe pool entries and safe exists. Bubblemakers will work towards floating unassisted on their front and back for 5 seconds and swim independently 5 feet with their own propulsion. . Our foundation of learning front crawl and a safety skill called the rollover breath is introduced in this level.
- Prerequisite: None.
- Instructor Ratio: 4 Swimmers to 1 Instructor
Elementary Age Beginner swimmers will learn with others their age and ability. Swimmers will work to gain confidence and independence by first learning buoyancy and unassisted floating. Class will progress into learning the basics of the Front Crawl and Back Stroke. Swimmers will learn basic water survival skills and will be introduced to the Elementary Back Stroke. The goal of this class is to swim 12.5 meters unassisted with at least one independent breath or utilizing the roll over breath technique.
- Prerequisite: None.
- Instructor Ratio: 4 Swimmers to 1 Instructor.
Students will learn independent breathing and build on their Beginner Front Crawl Stroke and Beginner Back Stroke. Students learn basic water survival skills and will be introduced to the Elementary Back Stroke. The goal of this class is to swim 12.5 meters unassisted with at least one independent breath or utilizing the roll over breath technique.
- Prerequisite: Completion of Bubblemaker or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to float on front and back at least 5 seconds and swim independently 5 feet.
- Instructor Ratio: 4 Swimmers to 1 Instructor.
Intermediate swimmers will begin the development of strength and technical form in the two primary strokes; Front Crawl and Backstroke. Swimmers are introduced to the Intermediate Breast Stroke in this level. Swimmers are working towards the ability to swim 25 meters continuously in Intermediate Front Crawl and Intermediate Back Stroke while demonstrating proper timing of the Breast Stroke for 12.5 meters. Prerequisite: Completion of Wavecrawler or equivalent experience. Instructor Ratio: 4 Swimmers to 1 Instructor.
Swimmers are introduced to the Six Characteristics of Advanced Front Crawl Stroke, Advanced Breast Stroke, Advanced Back Stroke and Treading Water. Swimmers are working towards the ability to swim 25 meters continuously demonstrating advanced technique of the Front Crawl Stroke, Breast Stroke, and back stroke. Prerequisite: Completion of Pool Shark or equivalent experience. Instructor Ratio: 4 Swimmers to 1 Instructor.
Swimmers are introduced to conditioning swims in Advanced Front Crawl Stroke, Breast Stroke, and Back Stroke while working on refinement of technique. Aquamaster swimmers are given introductions to the Butterfly Stroke, Side Stroke and Flip-turns. These swimmers are working towards a continuous 50 meter swim of the front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke demonstrating advanced technique. In addition, they are working towards mastery of the butterfly kick as a foundation for learning the timing of this advanced stroke. Prerequisites: Completion of Waverunner or equivalent experience. Instructor Ratio: 4 Swimmers to 1 Instructor.
Students will fine tune the mental and physical challenges of conditioning swims with advanced technique. Students will learn competitive technique for the Butterfly Stroke, Back Stroke, Breast Stroke and Front Crawl Stroke. Swimmers will learn basic life saving techniques. Swimmers are working towards the ability to swim a continuous 500 meters of advanced Front Crawl, Breast Stroke and Backstroke. Additionally, they are working towards demonstrating advanced Butterfly Stroke, Open Turns and Flip Turns. Prerequisites: Completion of Aquamaster or equivalent experience. Must be able to swim 50 meters of the Front Crawl, Back Stroke, Breast Stroke demonstrating advanced technique. Must be able to demonstrate proper Butterfly kick and basics of Butterfly timing. Instructor Ratio: 4 Swimmers to 1 Instructor.
CE is our offseason training program or swim team preparation course. Swimmers work each practice on technique and conditioning focused on improving performance for future swim meets. CE classes utilize curriculum and drills from former successful swim team competitors on our staff. Prerequisites: Completion of Tiger Shark or equivalent experience. Swimmers must be able to swim a continuous 500 meters of Front Crawl, Back Stroke, Breast Stroke with 25 Meters being the Butterfly. Swimmers must demonstrate knowledge of advanced technique and proper turns.
