Water safety is perhaps the most important factor when it comes to being around any size body of water.  If at home things such as securing a fence around the pool to prevent small children from falling in is important.

Other water safety tips include knowing how to swim in large bodies of water such as lakes, and oceans as swimming in a pool is different than swimming in the open water.
